Breakfast is indeed the most important meal of the day. Eating a high fibre, low fat breakfast will help to fill you up and provide energy for the day. It is estimated that over 50% of the population skips this mega metabolism boosting meal. Planning your food the night before will ensure you never miss a meal.

Instead of fuelling yourself with coffee and carbohydrates (breads, pastries) try including more low fat dairy products and fresh fruit. These foods when combined together create low fat protein and high fibre carbohydrate.

Quick Ideas for a Low Fat Breakfast:

  • homemade oatmeal and fresh fruit
  • cottage cheese and fresh fruit
  • dry whole wheat toast with a poached egg
  • yogurt layered with fresh fruit and low fat granola
  • smoothie (look for recipes with 1 cup milk + 1 cup fruit + good fat + ice )

 

It's important to eat breakfast at the same time every day. Your body works best with consistency and will respond with an increase in weight loss. Don't be frightened to eat a large volume of food at breakfast. By staying active during the day you are guaranteed to burn off the calories!
