Rachelle responds: Absolutely not.

Diet pop, as well as full sugar varieties actually promotes weight gain! Diet cola is a double dose of nutritional disaster because it contains caffeine and aspartame. These substances promote ill health by creating dependence (caffeine) or depleting the body of vitamins and minerals (aspartame).

This anti- nutritious drink also contains ingredients that deplete calcium and could destroy your bones. Anyone who has a history of osteoporosis should not consume any kind of soda or carbonated beverage. Give up the sodas to lose more weight, and replace with water or herbal teas.

I am convinced that the consumption of regular sodas has had an impact on increasing obesity and diabetes statistics. Each 250 ml serving of pop contains 27 grams of sugar which is the equivalent of about 10 teaspoons. This pop a day habit could result in a weight gain of 12 pounds per year.
