One of the biggest obstacles while losing weight is food temptation. Did you ever notice how appetizing TV food commercials look, especially in the evening? Food manufactures market unhealthy products, such as fast food, during commercials of popular evening shows. Basically the more you are exposed to the commercial the more you will subconsciously crave the food.
Temptation from friends and family creates yet another obstacle that may affect your weight loss results. Talk to your friends and family about your health and weight loss goals and ask them to be supportive. Once your friends and family see you losing weight they may be motivated themselves!
How to Stay On Track:
-
Do not watch TV commercials for unhealthy or fast food, skip to another channel.
-
Ask your friends and family not to entice you with unhealthy foods.
-
Create a snack food cupboard, where your family or roommates store their unhealthy food choices.
-
Exercise more! Studies show that people who exercise on a regular basis will not consume unhealthy foods as much as someone who does not exercise.
-
Plan your meals a day in advance and stick to your plan!
When it comes to losing weight, portion control will keep your weight in control. When you first start the weight loss program it is important to weigh and measure your foods. This insures that your caloric and nutrient needs are met each day. Invest in a food scale, measuring cups and measuring spoons. Generally, the more portion controlled your food the faster your weight loss results will be.
