This weekend Rachelle and Susan attended the National Holistic Nutrition Confrence which took place at the Ontario Science Center in Toronto. This year’s theme, “For the Love of Food and Beyond”, included an interactive health tradeshow, many well known guest speakers and wonderful culinary delights inspired by local chefs. This confrence was well worth the trip, and has let us PEI gals network with other like minded practitioners from all across the country.
“Aside from the delicious mostly local food, I enjoyed the trade show very much,” remarques Rachelle who included a booth display for her soon to be launched online weight loss program. “It was so inspiring to meet so many other practitrioners who were just as passionate about helping others as we are, and the confrence gave us all an oppertunity to learn from eachother and share ideas. I also felt like Rachelle Wood Nutrition and Positive Change Nutrition, helped represent the Maritimes at this nation wide event as Atlantic Canada had very few participants at the tradeshow/ confrence.”
This years keynote speakers included: Michael Schmidt the raw milk farmer and advocate, and Anthony Daniels a well educated reseracher for a vitamin company. Other confrence speakers included: Dr. Edward Farnworth (cultured foods and research for them), Patricia Meyer-Watt and Oli Ullmann (l earn to ferment, Susans favorite!), Dr Elson Hass (the Detox Doc and Rachelle’s favorite!), and Jerry Zeifman (getting more from vitamins).
This was the`second annual Holistic Nutrition Confrence, which was organized by the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition Alumni Association, www.cssnnalumni.org . The food was delicious and consisted of as many local producers as possible. Participants also were able to sample wines from Southbrook Vineyards, and green tea with ginseng beer from Great Lakes Brewary Company, both of which were lovely.
Overall out trip to Toronto was a success (as usual). Rachelle and Susan would like to say a special hello to all the Registered Holistic Nutritionists they met at the confrence, especially the lovely ladies from Kingston who we shared Saturday night dinner and many car rides with , and the ladies who shared booth #29 with us. Hope to see you all again next year!
