Healthy eating requires time management, much like running a business. Healthy eating habits have been proven to increase energy levels and reduce stress. To insure you are eating healthy balanced meals, aim to include all the food groups at meal times. Regular snacking in between meals will help to prevent mid-day burnout. At work snack on fruit, yogurt, whole grain crackers, and granola bars.

Most busy professional are guilty of skipping meals. This results in a lack of energy and productivity. Your brain requires at least 500 calories of carbohydrates (abundant in fruits, vegetables and whole grains), to function optimally. Protein is also important for satisfying appetite and improving mental concentration.

One obstacle busy professionals encounter is frequent restaurant eating. Learn how to order the “healthy way”, by choosing whole wheat wraps and sandwiches, salads with protein, stir fry. If you’re watching your weight, order salad dressings on the side and choose water /tea/coffee for your beverage. Avoid picking up supper time take-out by preplanning healthy meals.

Ask your family, co-workers and friends to be supportive. Create a work place wellness challenge which involves healthy eating and regular physical activity. Start a work place lunch time walking club. Ask co-workers to pitch in a few dollars and buy a water cooler for the office.  And most importantly, be a healthy role model for your employees.
