Being a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, I like to look at the person as a whole. Our mind, our body and our spirit, really need to be working in harmony together for us to truly have peace in our lives. Have you seen the new show on A&E, Hoarders?  This show fascinates me for several reasons. One, I love how I feel when my house is clean. To walk bare foot on a newly cleaned floor truly is a beautiful thing, it's right up there with fresh sheets off the clothesline (minus the bird droppings, note to self, move the bird feeder far from the clothesline.) two, I know I can help them, with the cleaning part anyway.

Sometimes I like to offer, to clean a friend or my sisters' house for her, just so she can have that feeling of entering a room that was once a drop off/storage area and is now a peaceful oasis, a room that smells fresh and relaxing. Are you with me? Is this not a beautiful feeling or what? Having said this, please know that at any given time, I can not walk barefoot on my kitchen floor, oh but when I do it's wonderful. Walking into the kitchen in the morning and having the counters filled with dirty dishes, starts my day off on the wrong foot. Instantly I am depressed. I really can not imagine what life must be like for these people on "The Hoarders,"  some actually go to work and carry on regular lives when there home life is overwhelming. I just want to run in there and clean up the mess for them, but that is not helping them in the long run.

The trick is for them to get to the reason for the Hoarding in the first place. I love the "10 minute tidy", set an egg timer for 10 minutes then clean/organize an area for that 10 minutes and it is surprising how much can get done in 10 minutes. If we take a little time each day to do something for our selves, and to improve our lives, we will be so much closer to living in harmony with our mind/body/spirit. It's important to remember that life is meant to be enjoyed, If there is something that you do not enjoy then maybe it's time for the "10 minute tidy". Give it a try, what harm can it do....
