I was born in eastern PEI; Fort Augustus was my elementary school. Way, way back in those days I can remember thinking Souris was so far away. I’d never guess that 15 years later I’d be making that drive more frequently, and in less time! For 1 ½ years I operated a small private practice in Souris PEI. Known as the diet doctor, the community flocked to see me every Wednesday from my tiny office in the Main Street Mall.
Unfortunately I no longer operate from the Souris location but do enjoy seeing past clients in Charlottetown. A few times a year I travel up to teach group weight loss challenges from the hospital classroom. Recently I found this poem which was written for me by a member of my May 2011 Weight Loss Warrior group and would like to share it with you.
A Poem for Rachelle
“Never in my many, many years of battling my weight have I ever got what you alone have given to me.
You provide a service from the ground up. Literally from our feet, measuring along the way with a measuring tape. The support, encouragement and reinforcement enable us to reshape our lives, our minds, our hearts and then our body.
You wear a beautiful and sincere smile on your face and your heart on your sleeve. As you too have experienced and lived a similar life of struggling with body issues.
You encourage us to not only look beyond labels, packages and ourselves. We soon feel the inside, see the inside and eventually like our inside too.
We come to you and to Rachelle Wood Nutrition in all shapes and sizes. Each with our own personal story to tell… the how’s, whom, what or why’s that lead us to you.
Like the wind and water on our Island shaping seas glass until it washes on shore. Only when touched by a gentle human hand you see the difference one person can really make.
Rachelle, you wrap a small piece of yourself around each and everyone of us and there it will remain. “
